The automotive industry is one of the UK’s key manufacturing sectors, and whilst the Sheffield region has no automotive manufacturers, it boasts a well developed supply chain of 2nd and 3rd Tier suppliers. This is supplemented by expertise in the region’s universities and research organisations.

Companies include;

Kostal: The Group's main activities include the development and manufacture of technologically advanced electronic and electromechanical (mechatronic) products. Many famous industrial companies, including all the world's leading automobile manufacturers and their suppliers feature in the Group's customer base.

Koyo Bearings: Koyo designs, manufacturers and supplies a wide range of ball & roller bearings to the world's leading automotive manufacturers. These include; double row angular contact ball bearings, double row tapered roller bearings, high performance water pump bearings, clutch release bearings and light weight hub units for wheels.

LuK (UK): Supplies clutches to OE (original equipment) manufacturers all over the world. Over three million car clutch sets and 400,000 tractor clutches and discs are produced annually.
